Furlong, Kitty #2 (19 AUG 1868 - 21 MAR 1897)

Miss Kitty Furlong of this city (Neillsville, Clark Co., Wis.) died of consumption at 5 o’clock Sunday afternoon, March 21st, 1897, at the home on the north side where she had grown from a baby to mature womanhood, beloved and respected by all.

Deceased was born Aug. 19th, 28 years ago. Leaves a father, sister, Mrs. Walter Pennock of Scottsville, Ky., and brother, Francis.

For two or three years past it has been known that the dread disease, consumption, had set its seal upon her brow and all that earthly hands could do was done to avert the coming of the silent messenger, but to no avail, and she slowly faded away. About a year ago she was forced to give up her position as teacher in the city schools on account of ill health and since then has been gradually nearing the end of life. There is sorrow in the hearts of those left behind to mourn her untimely death and a vacant place in the home circle that can never be refilled. Her earthly work is finished. May she rest in peace.
