Hedrick, Louise (? - 14 SEP 1897)

News is received from Kalama, Wash., of the death of Mrs. Robert Hedrick, formerly Mrs. Louise Maes of this city (Neillsville, Clark Co., Wis.), sister of Mrs. Dorr Neff of Levis. She was for years a school teacher in this county, and held in the highest esteem. The Kalama Bulletin of Sept. 17th says:

"Died, at her home in this city on Sept. 14, 1897, Lou, wife of Robt. Hedrick. Death resulted from convulsion, super-induced by effete matter poisoning her blood.

The news of her death was a shock to the community. She was sick but a few hours and but few people knew of her sickness. Who but knew Mrs. Hedrick? Who but will feel her loss? For eight years Mrs. Hedrick has been a power of good in this city, in the public schools and in the Sunday School, in the church and in society her uplifting influence have been felt by all. No person in Kalama has been more ready to spend her time and talents ministering to the needs of others than she, and none have enjoyed a warmer spot in the hearts of both old and young.

She was a consistent Christian and was a member of the First Congregational Church of this city. For several years she has been superintendent of the Congregation Sunday School.

Deceased leaves a husband and a sister. The funeral was attended by more than 500 people, including the Knights of Pythias Lodge, of which Mr. H. is a member. Rev. A.R. Johnson preached the funeral sermon from the text: "Well Done Thou Good and Faithful Servant, etc." The exercises were very impressive.

The public extends to Mr. Hedrick its keenest sympathy, as it, too has sustained a loss.
