Sorenson, Martin #2 (1 FEB 1861 - 8 MAY 1934)

Martin Sorenson, one of the pioneer residents of the Longwood (Clark Co., Wis.) vicinity, passed away Tuesday, as the result of a stroke with which he was stricken last Friday.

The Martin Sorenson home is a mile east of Longwood corners.

He is survived by his wife, four sons and one daughter.

Funeral services are being held today from the Lutheran Church at Longwood, of which the deceased was a member.

Martin Sorenson died at his home, one mile east of Longwood, on Tuesday, May 8, 1934, at the age of 73 years. He was born in Botne, Norway, Feb. 1, 1861, and came to America in 1881. A year after he arrived he was united in marriage to Hannah Bredeson and he resided on his farm in Longwood ever since he came to Clark County.

He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. J.H. Peterson of Anoka, Minn., and four sons, Oluf of Milwaukee, Hendrick, who resides in the west, and Emil and Eddie at home. Seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. One brother, Nels of Longwood, and two sisters, Mrs. Olette Hanson of Stevens Point, and Mrs. Stina Nelson of Unity, are left to mourn his death.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Norwegian Church of Longwood, Rev. Aaberg officiating.

Mr. Sorenson was one of the early pioneers of Clark County. He was a kind neighbor, always willing to lend a helping hand. He was favorably regarded by all who knew him for his many fine qualities and will be greatly missed in the community in which he has so long lived.
