Melford Delano Catlin was born on Dec. 26, 1916, to his parents, Perle and Anna Catlin, Loyal. As patriarch of the Catlin clan, he especially looked forward to the annual Catlin Reunion held in Central Wisconsin which typically numbered more than 100 family members. He had an enjoyable and successful career on the confectionery industry, including Hershey Company and Peter Paul, Inc., traveling throughout Wisconsin for many years. In retirement, he enjoyed living in Sarasota, Fla., where he perfected his golf game. He was a Mason and Shriner, working tirelessly in supportive efforts for the Shriner Hospital for Children. He was particularly pleased and grateful to have been the sponsor for two children being cared for by Shriner’s Hospitals. He especially loved singing in church choirs and with Chanters Men’s Chorus, a Shriner organization that entertained and competed nationally, winning many awards. He died with courage and with the knowledge of going home to be with the Lord in eternal life. He will be forever remembered and loved by his family and friends.
He was a dear father of Alan (dec.) He is further survived by a sister, Dorothy (Larry) Schubert; brothers, Jerome (Jean Ann), Carrol (Marilyn), Richard (Rochelle); a multitude of nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and many friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife Ginny; ex-wife, Ann; four brothers, Marion, Vernon, Eldon, and Harvey; and a sister, Rose.
