Richard E. "Rick" Holt, 65, Spencer, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died on Friday, July 20, 2007, at his home. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, July 24, at the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, Wis. The Rev. James Mohr officiated. Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Casket bearers were Steve Broeson, Kyle Brown, Joe Hildebrand, Doug Polar, Patrick Polar and Tom Weyer.

Richard Edward Holt was born on Dec. 12, 1941, at home in the town of Weston, Greenwood, to Earl Edward and Bertha (nee Putzel) Holt. He attended country schools, and schools in Loyal and Neillsville while growing up, and he assisted his mother while she taught at all of those schools. He married Dixie Dancker in 1962. They later divorced and in 1986, he married Terrie Hildebrand-Fawley. He was employed in many different fields. He worked for American Motors, Kenosha, Kuhl Implement, Granton, Isabella Construction and retired from the Clark County Highway Department in 1989, after 20 years of dedication. Throughout life, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, firstly. He also enjoyed racing, hunting, fishing, shooting trap, cooking, daily phone calls to family and friends, having a beer with the boys, intense debates, and much, much, more.

He is survived by his cherished wife, Terrie; three children, Stacey Holt, Neillsville, Heather Brown, Neillsville, and Aaron (Becky) Fawley; two grandchildren, Kyle Brown and Haley Fawley; three loyal canines, Taffy, Jake and Teddy; a brother, James (Cheryl) Holt, Black River Falls, and a sister, Elizabeth (Robert G.) Wilsman, Neillsville, along with many relatives in the area and beyond.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

The Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, assisted the family with arrangements.
