Obit: Kissinger, Harvey (1913? - 19 Feb. 1934)

Harvey Kissinger, age twenty-one, a log scaler at the Roddis Lumber and Veneer plant at Marshfield and a cousin of Mrs. Harry Bender of Colby, met death by scalding when he fell into a vat of hot water and acid at the plant Monday morning. Kissinger was missed by fellow employees shortly before 10:00 A.M. and a search disclosed his body in the tank soon afterward. He had apparently slipped on the icy edge of the tank and toppled into the hot mixture. He had been employed at the Roddis plant only two weeks.

Kissinger is one of several employees who have met death in the course of several years in the huge vat which is used to soften the bark of logs by immersing them in hot water and acid. The deceased was born in the town of Sherman, Wood county, and is survived by his parents and three sisters.
