Cardinal, Gertrude (10 May 1906 - 3 Feb. 1984)

Dorchester - Mrs. John "Bert" (Gertrude) Cardinal, 77, Route 1, Dorchester, died at 11 a.m. Sunday at Memorial Hospital in Medford.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Dorchester with the Rev. David W. Maki officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Medford.

Visitation at the Maurina Funeral Home, Dorchester, will be after 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The former Gertrude Baumgarten was born May 10, 1906 in rural Stanley, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Ernest (Ida Beckman) Baumgarten. She was married to John "Bert" Cardinal April 19, 1924. He survives.

They lived in the Town of Hixon and farmed in the Town of Grover for many years. They lived in the Town of Holton, rural Dorchester, since 1970.

A member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Mrs. Cardinal also is survived by four sons, Lawrence and Gilbert Cardinal, both of Withee, Lyle Cardinal of Dorchester and Ronald Cardinal of Marinette; four daughters, Mrs. Edwin (Alvina) Judycki of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Mrs. Lorn (Helen) Jasmer of Withee, Mrs. Duane (Elaine) Oldham of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Mrs. Dennis (Florence) Fischer of Stratford; two sisters, Anne Wright of Cromwell, Ind. and Mildred Schultz of Thorp; one brother, Harold Baumgarten of Thorp; 23 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Lester, a daughter, Audrey, two grandchildren and a sister.
