Sommers, Vernice (21 SEP 1933)

One of the pretty fall weddings was that of Miss Vernice Sommers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Sommers, Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.), to Henry J. Schuh, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Schuh, Colby. The ceremony was performed Thursday morning at 11:30 o’clock by Father L.J. Lang in the rectory of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Miss Leona Sommers, sister of the bride, was maid of honor, and Miss Dorothy Schuh, sister of the groom, was bridesmaid. The groom’s attendants were his brother, Anthony Schuh, and Leo Biel, Athens.

The bride was attired in an ankle length gown of mulberry velvet with matching accessories and carried a bouquet of roses, carnations and snapdragons.

Miss Sommers wore a wine colored crepe gown with white accessories and Miss Schuh’s gown was of brown crepe, and her accessories were also in white. Both carried bouquets of roses, carnations and asters.

A reception followed the ceremony at the home of the bride’s parents and a six o’clock dinner served to 40 guests. Cut flowers were used effectively as table decorations. The rooms were decorated with rainbow streamers and autumn foliage. In the evening a free wedding dance was given at Oakwood pavilion. Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. William Wesenberg, Madison; Mrs. Charles Winfrey and son, Leo, of Tennessee; Leo Biel, Athens; Mrs. Lavin Knap and son, Roy, Greenwood.

The bride is a graduate of Colby, Wis. High School and Taylor County Normal and for the past several years has been engaged as teacher in the town of Colby.

The groom has been affiliated with the White House Milk Co. for the past two years.
