Charles Thomas Nomady, age 76, of Tomahawk, Wisconsin, passed away Wednesday, August 1st, 2007 in the Palliative Care Unit of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, Wisconsin.

Memorial services for Charles Nomady will be held on Thursday, August 9th at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Tomahawk. Military Rites will follow services.

Chuck was born on April 28th, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois to Charles Sr. and Anna Fournier Nomady.

He married Janice Cook on February 17th, 1953, in Louisville, Kentucky.

Chuck was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Army. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart and was a member of the American Legion in Tomahawk and the VFW of Colby, Wisconsin.

He received his Batchelor’s degree from UW-Stevens Point, Master’s Degree from UW-Stout and did further graduate work at Notre Dame University. He taught physics and chemistry at Colby, Wis. High School for 29 years, retiring in 1987.

Chuck was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Colby and later in Tomahawk and Rhinelander, Wisconsin, a member of the Colby Lions Club for 28 years and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Colby.

One of his dreams was to personally build his retirement home on the lake property which was purchased in 1965. This he accomplished. The family has lived permanently at the current address for the last 20 years. He also received his private pilot’s license, loved flying and attending the Experimental Aircraft Association fly-in in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Chuck was an active member of the Friends of the Tomahawk Airport. He also enjoyed reading, hunting and antique cars. He was an avid Packer Backer, a gourmet cook and also appreciated a good hot dog with mustard and relish (the only way to eat a hot dog).

He was a compassionate, talented husband, father, brother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him.

Survivors include his wife Janice; one daughter, Katherine Nomady, Round Rock, TX; one son, Thomas C. (Jana) Nomady, Mosinee; one brother Paul (Dorothy) Nomady, Jacksonville, IL; one sister, Beverly (Charles) Cunha, Naples, FL. Chuck is further survived by two grandsons, Mathew Del Fatti and Kyle Nomady and one great-grandson, Zachary Rocha.
