Blanchard, Horace J. (15 Apr. 1882 - 12 Dec. 1935)

Horace J. Blanchard, Edgerton, Wisconsin, passed away at the Wisconsin General Hospital, Madison, on Thursday, December 12th.

Mr. Blanchard was born in Colby, Wisconsin, on April 15th, 1882. He was a graduate of the Colby, Wis. High School and of the University of North Dakota. He was admitted to the bar of North Dakota, in June, 1910, and subsequently practiced law in Dickinson, N.D., Phillips, Wis., and Edgerton, Wis. At Edgerton he was associated in the practice of law with his brother, George W. Blanchard.

He was always interested in politics, and served as a member of the North Dakota legislature for two terms.

He enlisted for service in the World War September 10th, 1918, at Dickinson, North Dakota, and was at the Officer’s Training Camp, at Camp Pike, Arkansas, when the Armistice was signed. He was honorably discharged on Decemeber 8th, 1918.

Services were held at Edgerton on Friday afternoon, and the body was brought to Colby Saturday for burial. Christian Science services were conducted at the cemetery. A military salute was given and taps sounded by the American Legion. R. G. Salter, John Pribnow, Sr., William Roth, Carl Holtzhausen, Joseph Kraus, Oscar Sturner, acted as pall bearers.

Mr. Blanchard is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Marion Anderson and his grandson, Ronald Anderson, of Marshfield, Wisconsin; his mother of Minneapolis; a brother, George W. Blanchard, Edgerton; and two sisters, Miss Pearl Blanchard, Minneapolis, and Mrs. L. W. Richter, Belfield, North Dakota. His father, Horace J. Blanchard, passed away in June 1921.

All of the immediate family were present at the services. Out of town friends were Mr. and Mrs. E. V. Vovey, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Service, and Mrs. W. T. Poad, Marshfield.
