Trunkel, John Sr. (Dec. 24, 1886 - March 15, 1975)

John Trunkel Sr. 88, Neillsville, died Saturday at Memorial Hospital.

Services for John Trunkel Sr. were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home with Fr. Michael Mertens, Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard, officiating. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

John Trunkel Sr. was born Dec. 24, 1886, in Yugoslavia, was educated there, and came to this country as a young boy, locating in Illinois. He farmed there, and in 1920, moved to the Willard area where he operated a farm until his retirement in 1962. He had his home in Neillsville at the Bryan Home on Hewett Street for the past five years.

He was married to the former Lydia Vickers at Seneca, Ill., and died in 1940.

Survivors include one son, John Trunkel Jr., Willard, two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Rudy, and a brother, Tony.
