Degenhardt, Mr./Mrs. (60th Anniv. - 17 Oct. 1982)

Mr. and Mrs. Leo M. Degenhardt of Route 2, Loyal, observed their golden wedding anniversary with a 10:30 a.m. Mass Oct. 17 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal.

The Rev. James Logan officiated at the service. A dinner and reception followed at the American Legion Hall, Loyal.

Degenhardt was born April 6, 1901 in the Loyal area, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Degenhardt. He received his education in Loyal schools. Prior to marriage, he farmed.

Mary Binder was born April 1, 1902, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Binder of Route 2, Marshfield. She received her education in Bakerville schools. Before marriage, she lived on Route 2, Marshfield, and was a housekeeper.

Degenhardt and the former Miss Binder were married Oct. 17, 1922 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal. They farmed in the Loyal area until retirement in 1978.

They are members of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Degenhardt’s hobbies include bee-keeping, fishing and hunting. His health is very good. Mrs. Degenhardt’s hobbies include crocheting, knitting and bee-keeping. Her health is good.

Their children are Mrs. Arnold Bell of Marshfield, Mrs. Walter Kohl of Marshfield, Paul of Marshfield, Norbert of Curtiss, Lawrence of Monroe Center, Ill., Rose Gregorich of Spencer, Dorothy Rottscheit of Marshfield and Barbara Lynskey of Minneapolis. They also have 25 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Margaret Michalski, an attendant at the original wedding ceremony, also attended the anniversary celebration.
