Degenhardt, Harold James (25 Oct. 1929 - 3 Jan. 1975)

Dorchester - Rites for Harold James Degenhardt, 45, of route 1, Dorchester, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home in Dorchester, Wis. Mr. Degenhardt was pronounced dead of an apparent heart attack upon arrival at the Medford Memorial Hospital about 9:30 a.m. Friday.

The Rev. Roland M. Golz, pastor of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, will officiate, and internment will be made in the Dorchester Memorial cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday.

Mr. Degenhardt was born Oct. 25, 1929, at Colby and attended the Loyal and Colby grade schools. He lived on a farm south of Loyal until 1948, when he entered the Army and was stationed at Ft. Lewis, Wash. A resident of the Dorchester area since 1964, he previously lived in Loyal, Curtiss, Unity, Marshfield and Colby. He was employed by the Northern Freeport Silo Company of Withee.

His marriage to the former Joyce Erdman took place June 15, 1951, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the town of Green Grove.

He is survived by his wife, five daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Lorna) Writz, Athens, and Lynne, Lois, LuAnn and Lori, all at home; a son, Larry, also at home; six brothers, Edwin, Greenwood, James, Milwaukee, Ronald, Belvidere, Ill., and Roman, Allen and Raymond, all of Loyal; and four sisters, Mrs. Edward (Elnora) Bowman, Alma Center, Mrs. Leo (Jean) Verbrigghe, Milwaukee, Mrs. James (Carol) Whipple, Marshfield and Mrs. Sylvester (Arlene) Rizzi, Spencer.
