Schorer, Walter (27 Feb. 1917 - 24 July 1938)

Walter Schorer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schorer of the town of Hull, died at Wells, Minn., Sunday night, lobar pneumonia being the cause of his untimely death. Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon at 1:30 at the house and at 2:00 P.M. at the St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed church, Rev. S. A. Schmiechen officiating, and internment will be made in the Colby cemetery.

The deceased was born in the town of Hull Feb. 27, 1917, thus reaching the age of twenty-one years, four months and twenty-seven days. He graduated from Colby, Wis. High school in 1934.

Besides his parents, he is survived by five brothers and five sisters, namely - Roland and Robert, at home, Elmer of Wells, Minn., Ervin and Frederick of Esten, Minn., Mrs. Albert Podevels of Colby, Mrs. Frank Wensauer and Mrs. Alfred Nicknich of Sheboygan, Mrs. Ferdinand Schilling of Stratford and Mrs. Elmer Sanders of Wausau.

The deceased was an industrious young man of good habits and will be missed not only by relatives but also by a host of friends.

Funeral services for Walter Schorer, who died of lobar pneumonia at the Immanuel Hassila Hospital at Mankato, Minn., after a weeks’ illness, were held at the St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed church in Colby last Thursday afternoon, Rev. S. A. Schmiechen officiating, and intenment was made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were Ed. Witte, Ervin Klein, Norman Schorer, Reynold Werner, Harold Miller and Otto Zarnke. Those in charge of the flowers were Ione Fetzel, Dorothy Arndt, Verna Miller, Elsie Witte, Margaret Klein, Anita Jenzeg, Stella Schorer and Myrtle Schorer. The firing squad of the Abbotsford battery, National Guards, of which the deceased was a member, fired a salute and taps were sounded by William Wilde, Jr.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Elmer Schorer, Mrs. Charles Miller, Verna Miller, Mr. and Mrs. John Jenzeg, Lester Willmer and Fred Engel of Wells, Minn., Raymond Werner of Bricelyn, Minn., Paul Werner of Freebourn, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Edward Kern and daughter, Shirley, Fred Schorer and Ervin Schorer of Easton, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Nickisch and daughter, Patricia, Mrs. Frank Wensawer and sons, Lyle and Frank, and Margaret Graf of Sheboygan, Fred Klein and Mrs. Arthur Werner of Elkhart Lake, Mrs. Christ. Schultz, Mr. and Mrs. William Gertach of Sheboygan Falls, Reynold Werner and Irene Zimmermeier of Elkhart Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Zander and grand daughter, Charlotte, and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Miller, of Wausau, Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Schillinger and children of Stratford, Otto Schillinger of Stevens Point, Otto Zarnke of Milwaukee, Mrs. William Meyer, Mr. and Mrs. George Meyer and family of Dorchester, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Willmer and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Schorer and son, Norman, of Abbotsford, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kriplean and children, Dorothy and Joyce, of Owen, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Geanette of Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Talusty of Medford, Wm.
