Bitter, Charles D. (1 Apr. 1860 - 14 Sept. 1938)

Charles D. Bitter, a resident of Abbotsford for the past thirteen years, died of a heart ailment Wednesday, September 14th, at the age of seventy-eight years, at the home of his son, Harvey Bitter. The funeral was held at the Ervin Bitter home at Abbotsford Saturday, September 17th, and at 2:30 o’clock at the Presbyterian church, Rev. E. L. Hoover officiating, and internment was made in the Dorchester cemetery. Pall bearers were Ed. Leichtnam, Charles Ipsen, Rhinold Klocke, Henry Rau, Fred Rahn and Otto Froebel. Grand daughters acted as flower girls and were Genevieve, LaVerne, Violet, Ann and Vivian Selzner, Rosemary Bitter and Mildred Heidtke.

Mr. Bitter was born in Sheboygan April 1, 1860. He was married in 1881, in Sheboygan to Hulda Zeimke who preceded him in death July 17, 1934.

Surviving are five children - Mrs. Carl Scheuerman and Ervin and Harvey Bitter, all of Abbotsford, Edgar Bitter of Iowa Falls, Iowa, and Mrs. Nick Selzner of Chippewa Falls, fifteen grand children, five great grand children, a brother, Henry Bitter of Mio, Mich., and a sister, Mrs. Aug. Schulze, of Owen, Wis.
