Miller, Harold A. (9 Sept. 1917 - 23 Aug. 2004)

Harold A. Miller, 86, of 1713 Jackson St., New Holstein, died Monday morning, Aug.23, 2004, at Willowdale Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein where he resided the past two years.

He was born Sept. 9, 1917, in Colby, Wis., son of the late Amos & Mathilda Neuhaus Miller. Harold was a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps. serving during World War II at West Point. On June 18, 1949, he married Deloris R. Hoehnke at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Sheboygan. Harold and his brother Harvey owned the Rhine Center Garage. In 1953 Harold & his wife Deloris established Miller Manufacturing in New Holstein, working there until his retirement. His work was his hobby and he continued to go to the shop until he became a resident of Willowdale.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, New Holstein.

Harold enjoyed camping, fishing and reading.

Survivors include his wife Deloris of New Holstein, three children: David (Barbara) Miller, New Holstein, Susan (Dennis) Woelfel, New Holstein, Mary (James) Prange, Town of Greenbush; grandchildren: Chad, Elizabeth & Curt Miller, Christopher Woelfel, Rebecca Woelfel, Erin (Robert) Wartenburg, Emily Woelfel, Jeffrey & Erica Prange. He is further survived by one brother, Arnold Miller, Plymouth, three sisters: Elda Laabs, Plymouth, Verna (Harold) Hueppchen, Plymouth, Arlene (Evan) Stone, Plymouth, three sisters-in-law; Lydia Miller, Plymouth, Linda Miller, California, Lois Schuricht, Kiel and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers: William, Melvin & Eugene, brothers-in-law, Lee Laabs, Orville Boeldt, Frederick Hoehnke, Walter Schuricht and sisters-in-law, Marie Miller & Dolores Hoehnke.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 26, 2004, at Zion Lutheran Church, New Holstein with Rev. John Schenck officiating.

Burial will take place in New Holstein Townsite Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 Sixth St., Kiel, on Wednesday from 4 until 8 p.m. and at the Church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
