Trunkel, Josephine E. (March 8, 1915 - September 28, 2007)

Josephine E. Trunkel, age 92, of Willard, passed away at the Neillsville Memorial Home on Friday, September 28, 2007.

Josephine E. Perovsek was born on March 8, 1915, in Willard, to Frank, Sr. and Mary (Blatnik) Perovsek. She was raised on the farm and received her education at the North Willard School. Josephine was united in marriage to Tony F. Trunkel on July 21, 1937, at Holy Family Catholic Church. They farmed on her family farm in the Town of Hendren. Her husband Tony passed away on August 12, 1989. Josephine lived her entire life on her family farm and could read and write fluently in Slovenian, serving as a translator when needed.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, a lay member of the 3rd Order of St. Francis of Assisi, a member of the KSKJ Lodge in Willard, a member of the American Slovenian Catholic Union, a past member of the Slovenian Women’s Union #102, and a past member of Holy Family’s Parish Council of Catholic Women. Josephine always looked forward to visits from family members. She was active in many church activities and enjoyed raising a huge garden, only to give much of it away every fall.

Josephine is survived by two sons, Tony J. (Frederica) Trunkel, of Willard/Apache Junction, AZ; Frank (Mary) Trunkel, of Menomonie, WI; one daughter, JoAnne Miracle, of Lockport, IL; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Molly Johnson, of Mesa, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tony; her son-in-law, Al Miracle; one brother, Frank Perovsek, Jr.; and two sisters, Rose Salaker and Mary Sensman.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 2, 2007, at Holy Family Catholic Church, in Willard. Fr. Joseph Follmar, officiated, with burial following in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tony U. Trunkel, Grant E. Trunkel, Dale W. Trunkel, Donald E. Trunkel and Matthew Miracle.

In lieu of flowers, her family prefers memorials be given to the Holy Family Endowment Fund, in Willard.
