Amacher, Gertrude (20 Nov. 1906 - 21 Feb. 2005)

Gertrude Amacher, 98, Abbotsford, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at Colonial Center in Colby.

Gertrude was born Nov. 20, 1906, in Abbotsford to Herman and Mary (Kelpin) Scheeler. She attended Abbotsford schools. Gertrude and Hans Amacher were married on June 30, 1927, in Granton. He preceded her in death.

She worked for A.J. Meyers General Store for five years before her marriage. Gertrude and Hans then owned and operated Abbotsford Hardware until 1972. She then worked for Ben Franklin until 1975. Gertrude enjoyed knitting, crocheting, baking, cooking and gardening.

Gertrude is survived by her children, Harold (Charmaine) Amacher and Carol (Ron) Graffunder, all of Abbotsford; her grandchildren, Roxanne Standeven, Brad Graffunder, Shawn Gonnering and Shane Graffunder; 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy Grottke of Colby. She will be sadly missed by her family and former AFS student, Futhi Matoba.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hans; one brother; one sister; and one grandson.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at Christ Lutheran Church in Abbotsford, Wis. Burial will be in Abbotsford Public Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Paul C. Hunsicker will officiate. Pallbearers will be Brad Graffunder, Shane Graffunder, Ron Gonnering, Cory Amacher, Shanna Lueth, Brittany Lueth and Nikki Beran. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the church.

Maurina/Community Funeral Home in Abbotsford is assisting the family.
