Inez Bernice Ockershauser, 84, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, at the House of the Dove Hospice Home in Marshfield.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home. The Rev. Peter K. Muschinske, pastor of Faith Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the town of Beaver Cemetery in Clark County. Pallbearers will be her family and friends.

Bernice was born Jan. 14, 1921, to Henry and Elise (Brechbuhl) Bloom in Loyal. She graduated from Loyal High School in 1938 and worked for a while at a small private hospital in Owen, before going to Milwaukee, where she attended Spencerian Business College. She then went to Chicago, where she worked for International Furniture and the Ovaltine Company. She met her husband, Karl Ockershauser, in Chicago and they were married in 1950. He died in 1978. Two years after their marriage, Karl was transferred to Detroit, Mich., to the main office of the spring company for which he worked. She worked for the Packard Motor Car Company until it merged with Studebaker and moved the offices to South Bend, Ind. They lived in the Detroit area for 16 years, first in Grosse Pointe Woods and then in Bloomfield Hills. Because of her husband's work transfers, they also lived in High Point, N.C., and South Bend, Ind., before returning to Marshfield in the fall of 1975.

She is lovingly survived by her two brothers, Glen (Agnes) Bloom of Loyal and Charles Bloom of Beijing China; two sisters-in-law, Vivian Bloom of Unity and Zada Bloom of Loyal. She is further survived by nieces and nephews.

Bernice was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Leo and Lester Bloom; and a sister, Esther Schulze.
