Stoiber, John Jr. (8 Nov. 1895 - 11 Apr. 1940)

A requiem high mass was read Monday morning at St. Louis Catholic church at Dorchester for John Stoiber, Jr., age 45, who was fatally injured last Thursday while helping a neighbor bale hay. Mr. Stoiber was killed when a belt came off a tractor, wound around a pulley and hit Stoiber with such force that he was killed instantly. Mrs. Stoiber, nee Emma Gabriel, lived in Coby many years and is well known here.

The Rev. Phillip T. Weeler officiated at the 9:30 o’clock church service, which was followed by internment in the parish cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers were Joseph Boxrucker, Henry Kauer, Theodore Decker, Martin Heindl, Edward Meyer, and Joseph Sulik. Six nephews acted as active pall bearers. They were Clarence and Alvin Stoiber, Clarence and Orlando Goessel, Frank Dessel, and Leo Younker.

Mr. Stoiber, who was born Nov. 8, 1895, in Darboy, the son of Angeline and the late John Stoiber, Sr., moved to Dorchester with his parents in 1899 to his present home. He was married in Colby to Emma Gabriel June 16, 1925.

Besides his wife he is survived by three children, Dorothy Mary, Robert John, and Agnes Ann; his mother, Mrs. John Stoiber, Sr.; a sister, Mrs. Sophie Dessel; and a brother, Frank Stoiber. One son, Gerald James, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Goessel, preceded him in death.
