Alice Gustafson, 92, died April 7, 2007, peacefully at her home.

She was born Nov. 7, 1914, in Withee, to Alvin "A.R." and Ida (Bruckert) Martin. She graduated from high school in Withee and continued her education at Stevens Point State Teachers College where she earned a degree in elementary education. She married Harry Gustafson in Withee in 1937. They resided in Rib Lake where they owned and operated Gustafson Lumber Company. They moved to Phillips in 1943. She was a dedicated homemaker and mothers. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading, flowers and watching the hummingbirds and bluebirds.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas (Carol), Hayward; and Victor (Rosemary), Ely, Minn.; by four grandchildren: Thomas, Gwen, Kris and Dawn; by five great-grandchildren; and by three nieces and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband Harry in 1986; and by four sisters: Izzy, Edna, Emmy and Inie.

It was her wish to be cremated and also in keeping with her wishes there will be no memorial service.
