Frome, Helen (Marriage - 15 June 1940)
One of the pretty weddings of early summer was that of Miss Helen Frome, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Frome of Colby, and Jacob H. Kattre, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kattre of Sheboygan, which occurred Saturday afternoon at 4 o’clock at the Zion Evangelical church, Colby, Wis.
The bride chose for her wedding a gown of white silk net over a foundation of taffeta, designed in a colonial style and fashioned with a sweetheart neckline and large short puffed sleeves. She wore a finger-tip blush veil, and carried a shower bouquet of Easter lilies. Mr. Frome presented his daughter in marriage.
Miss Vera E. Lange of Fall River, maid of honor, was attired in a gown of white net and lace over yellow satin made princess style. She carried a colonial bouquet of cream-colored roses and sweet peas, and flowers were also arranged on the shoulder-length veil used as a headdress. John Pitschler of Sheboygan, was best man. Milford Frome, brother of the bride, and Alton Doman of Sheboygan, ushered.
The ceremony was performed by the Rev. O. H. Hoffmann before an altar with flowers and lighted by tall candles in branch candelabra. Palms and baskets of peonies and gladioli were on either side of the steps leading to the sancutary.
Miss Carol Kattre, sister of the bridegroom, sang two solos, "At Dawning" and "Because."
A 6 o’clock dinner was served to 38 guests in the dining room of the Hotel Robinson, where a color scheme of pink, blue and yellow had been arranged. Vases of flowers and lighted candles adorned the tables.
Following the dinner a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. Out-of-town guests at the wedding included Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kattre, Miss Carol Kattre, Wesley Kattre, Nathon Kjelson, Reuben Haack, Sheboygan; Miss Connie Kattre, Milwaukee; Robert Schwinbold, Hartford; Miss Evelyn Quigg and Mrs. James Murray and daughter, Marjorie, Eau Claire; and Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Stock, Loyal.
The bride was graduated from the Colby, Wis. High School and Whitewater State Teachers College. She taught at the Sheboygan High School for the past several years.
For her going-away ensemble Mrs. Kattre wore a natural color sharkskin coat over a brown and white dress with matching accessories.
Mr. Kattre and his bride will be at home during the summer months at their cottage, Crystal Lake, after June 22. Mr. Kattre is associated with the G. A. DeWilde Company at Sheboygan, where they will make their home.
