Dins, Bertha (24 AUG 1939)

Pink gladioli predominated among the garden flowers which decorated the altar of Zion’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at Colby when Miss Bertha Dins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Dins of Colby became the bride of Walter Schauer, son of Mrs. Bertha Schauer of Green Grove (Clark Co., Wis.) on Thursday afternoon, Aug. 24, 1939, at 2:30 o’clock. The Rev. O. Hoffman read the marriage service in the presence of a large gathering of relatives and friends.

The bride chose for her wedding a beautiful floor length white chiffon velvet gown with a sweetheart beaded neckline and a long train. Her long lace veil fell from a beaded crown held in place by orange blossoms. White roses and baby’s breath formed the bride’s bouquet.

The bride’s attendants were similarly gowned in floor length satin frocks fashioned with bolero jackets. Mrs. Hubert Schauer, the maid of honor, wore aquamarine satin with a wrist corsage. The bride’s sister, Miss Dorothy Dins, was attired in coral satin and Miss Erma Wiersig, cousin of the bride, also acting as bridesmaid, wore a powder blue satin gown with a wrist corsage. Little Arlene Graffunder of Dorchester, Wis., niece of the groom, attended as flower bearer. She wore a sheer white dress with a ribbon headdress. Eli Krueger, nephew of the bride, acting as ringbearer Wore a white suit and carried the rings in a large calla lily.

Attending the groom were his brother, Hubert Schauer of Thorp, as best man and Erick Schauer and Fred Dins as groomsmen. Otto Harold Dins and Arvin Schauer ushered.

Following the ceremony, Miss Adeline Goetsch sang, "Be Thou Our Guide."

A reception of 125 was given at the home of the bride’s parents and a five o’clock dinner was served. The home was nicely decorated with white, pink and blue streamers. A large white wedding bell hung in the archway. In the evening, a wedding dance was given at Wiedenhoeft’s pavilion.

The young couple are making their home on the groom’s farm in the town of Green Grove.
