Hanson, Jean (Marriage - 12 June 1941)

Only immediate families witnessed the wedding at 7:30 P.M., June 12, of Miss Jean Hanson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Burton A. Hanson of Elkhorn, Wis., formerly of Colby, and Walter Keith Dean, son of Mrs. H. F. Dean of Whitewater. The candlelight ceremony was performed by Rev. Edgar Killiam of Lake Geneva against a background of syringa and white peonies.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore white organdy made with a buttoned bodice and a full gathered skirt. The sweetheart neckline and short puffed sleeves were edged with ruffling as was her petal shaped organdy cap caught at the back with white rosebuds. Her triple strand of pearls was the gift of the groom. She carried a bouquet of lilies and white roses. There were no attendants.

The bride’s mother wore light blue lace with a corsage of pink carnations. The groom’s mother wore rose lace with a corsage of blue delphinium.

Mrs. Dean was graduated from the Colby, Wis. High School in 1935. She attended Whitewater State Teachers College, Madison College and the University of Wisconsin where she received the degree of Bachelor of Arts in 1940. Mr. Dean also attended Whitewater State Teachers College, received a degree of Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin in 1939 and two weeks ago the degree of Master of Science from the Missouri State School of Mines and Metallurgy. He is a member of Alpha Chi Sigma, Sigma XI and Phi Chi Epsilon fraternities.

The young couple will make their home in St. Louis where the groom has accepted a position in the research department of Mallinckrodt Chemical Company.
