Rigg, William E. (1858? - 10 APR 1940)

William E. Rigg, a pioneer resident of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), died Wednesday and funeral services will take place Saturday afternoon from the Griebenow Funeral Parlors in this city. He had been in failing health for the past two years, however, his passing was sudden and came as a surprise to his friends. He leaves to mourn, two sons, Clarence of Withee, and Clifford of Waverly, Ill.; and two daughters, Mrs. C.L. Johnson of Mellen, and Mrs. F.L. Griffin of West Concord, Minn. His wife preceded him in death about two years ago.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, April 13, for W.E. Rigg, 81, from the Griebenow Funeral Parlors, with the Rev. James Irish of Thorp, officiating. Interment was made in the Riverside Cemetery.

Mr. Rigg, an early pioneer of this community, having lived at Withee for over 40 years, enjoyed the friendship of many. However his recent years and happiness were hampered by illness.

He is survived by two sons, Clarence of Withee and Clifford of Verden, Ill., and two daughters, Grace, Mrs. Frank Griffin of West Concord, Minn., and Frances, Mrs. Carl Johnson, of Mellen; and three brothers, Charles of Denver, Colo., Howard and Arthur of Lincoln, Nebr. His wife preceded him in death several years ago.

Pallbearers at the service were Ernest Strohkirch, Steffen Quist, John Stevenson, Martin Miller, A.R. Martin and John Blunck.
