Hoffman, Gladys (15 JUN 1940)

Miss Gladys Hoffman of Chicago and Walter Cizik, son of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Cizik of Withee were united in the holy bonds of matrimony in a beautiful rainbow wedding, which took place on June 15, 1940, at five o’clock in the afternoon in the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church on the corner of Parker and Laramie Av. In Chicago. Rev. A. Jarvis officiated.

The bride wore a beautiful white spider web net over satin with a long train, her veil was of net, yards long. She carried a bouquet of white gladiolas. Her matron of honor, a sister in law, wore a peach net floor length gown. Miss Elsie Cizik, sister of the groom, wore a baby blue net, also floor length. Miss June Kilmer, cousin of the groom, wore canary yellow net, floor length gown. All the bridesmaids carried the same kind of bouquets which were yellow tea roses with matching hair doers. Little five-year-old Loretta Raap, niece of the bride, acted as flower girl, her dress was of floor length flush pink net and carried a basket of flowers containing rosebuds and rosettes.

The best man to the groom was his brother, Earl. Other attendants were Robert Raap and Milton Stein of Chicago. All were dressed alike with dark trousers, white flannel coats and burgundy bow ties, it was a most beautiful and colorful wedding.

Immediately after the ceremony a reception was held in the Kedsi Boulevard Hall, where three hundred relatives and friends gathered to make it a gala occasion. A delicious supper was served. All caterers were dressed in white. A seven piece orchestra furnished music and at one a.m. another luncheon was served.

The newlyweds received a host of beautiful wedding presents and best wishes for a life time of happy married bliss.

Among the out of town guests were cousins and aunts of the bride from Iowa and Mrs. Edward Fredrick, aunt of the groom of Withee, Wis.
