Spann, LaVerne A. (Marriage - 1 Jan. 1942)

Miss LaVerne A. Spann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Spann, and Norman F. Flink, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Flink, were united in marriage Thursday, January 1, at 1:30 o’clock in the afternoon in the First Evangelical and Reformed church in Colby, Rev. S. A. Schmiechen reading the marriage ceremony. Miss Viola Spann attended as maid of honor and Miss Audrey Schulte was bridesmaid. The groom was attended by Marvin Flink and Sylvester Tesmer.

Two songs were sung by Mrs. Geo. Miller, Jr. - "I Love You Truly" and "Because."

The bride was attired in a becoming gown of white satin trimmed with lace, sweetheart neckline, fitted waist, buttons extending beyond waist in back, puffed leg-o-mutton sleeves, long train, short laced trimmed veil and headdress of white seed pearls and orange blossoms. Her bouquet consisted of white chrysanthemums and pink carnations. The maid of honor wore a gown of rose velveray brocaded taffeta, princess style, with short puffed sleeves and her corsage consisted of gladiolas and pompoms. The bridesmaid wore a gown of aqua velveray brocaded taffeta similar to that of the maid of honor and her corsage also consisted of gladiolas and pompoms.

The bride wore a strand of pearls, a gift from the groom and the maid of honor and bridesmaid wore heart shaped lockets, gifts from the bride.

A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, the home being nicely decorated with white, pink and blue streamers, five wedding bells and a large wedding cake as a centerpiece on the table.

In the evening, a wedding dance was held at Riplinger which was largely attended.

The couple is at home at the home of the bride’s parents where the groom is employed.
