Klewicki, George (18 Apr. 1865 - 19 July 1942)

Ludwig Rosenik of Thorp is being held in the Clark county jail at Neillsville as a material witness in a John Doe proceeding arising from the death of George Klewicki, age 77, who was found dead at his Thorp township home Sunday. The aged man was found lying on his back with a large gash on his forehead, scratches on his temple and sand in his mouth.

A coroner’s jury Monday returned an open verdict to the effect that Klewicki came to his death as a result of "causes unknown." It was indicated that there had been difficulties at times between the Klewickis and Ludwig Rosenik, who had been in their employ for six years.

Klewicki’s wife, Josephine, unable to speak English, was questioned through an interpreter, and said she had no knowledge of what happened.

Born in Poland April 18, 1865, Klewicki had one son, Walter, who lives near his parents’ home. Mrs. Walter Klewicki said she had shaved her father-in-law Sunday noon and that he had no cuts or scratches on his head at that time, and a neighbor who had seen him at 4:00 p.m. also said he was unmarked then.
