Curtiss - Aug. 27, 1942

The Curtiss school will open on August 31, with John Cross of Marshfield as principal and Miss Edith Candahl primary.

Miss Thea Thompson returned to Reno, Nev., on Friday after a three weeks’ visit with her sisters. Her sister, Esther, accompanied her to Milwaukee where she will be employed.

Mr. and Mrs. Chester Bangburg of Gilman visited at the home of Clara Thompson and sisters on Friday.

The Midway school will open on Aug. 31 with Miss Ruth Ammentorp of Withee as teacher.

Mr. and Mrs. Art Folz and daughter, Bonnie, left on Sunday for Wonewoc, Wis., to visit with relatives for a few days.

Mrs. Joe Poteoenik and brother, Wesely Becken, left on Saturday for Chicago to visit their sister, Mrs. Jean Pawson.

Miss Myrtle Hoff left Friday for Scandinavia where she will again teach in the primary departments.

Ruth Ann Thompson went to Madison Thursday and accepted a position as assistant dietician at the Memorial Union at the U. of Wis. She will begin her duties on Sept. 1.

Jake Johnson and daughter, Iris, are visiting the former’s daughter, Carol Johnson, and son, Lavern Johnson, and family at Chicago this week.

Mrs. Theo Thompson spent the week-end with relatives at Menomonie.

Miss Anna B. Hanson returned last week from New York where she attended summer school and received her M. A. degree from Columbia University.

The Helping Hand society will meet at the Popple River Park for their annual picnic on Friday, Aug. 28th.

Mrs. Anna Kipps of Ingram visited with Miss Bertha Kraut and called on friends here on Monday. Mrs. Kipps was formerly Miss Anna Block.

Miss Velores Krueger, who has been employed in Chicago the past summer, returned home on Saturday. She will teach in the Park school in Hoard again this year.

Ramon Peterson, who has been employed in Chicago, spent the week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Peterson. He expects to be inducted into the army.
