Gutenberger, Rita E. (Marriage - 14 July 1943)
Miss Rita E. Gutenberger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Gutenberger of Colby, and Kenneth Schumacher, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Schumacher of Dorchester, were united in marriage Wednesday, July 14th, at 9:00 A.M. at a ceremony performed at St. Mary’s church in Colby, Rev. Francis Brockman of Abbotsford reading the marriage ceremony. The bride was attended by Celine Schumacher as maid of honor and Eileen Gutenberger as bridesmaid. The groom was attended by LeRoy Engel and Edward Boxrucker.
The bride was attired in a becoming white slipper satin gown with lace inserts at shoulder and sweetheart neckline with finger tip veil. She carried a white prayer book and a rosary. The maid of honor wore a pink lace dress and the bridesmaid a blue-lace dress.
A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, and, in the evening, a wedding dance was given at Wiedenhoeft’s park.
The groom will soon be in the U.S. army, and, after his physical examination, the newly-weds will go on a honeymoon to northern lakes.
The bride is a graduate of Colby, Wis. High School and the groom is a graduate of the Dorchester, Wis. High School.
Out of town guests were Milton Gutenberger of Burlington, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Frank Engel, LeRoy Engel, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Schumacher and children, Mrs. Frank Ploeckelman and Kenneth, and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Schumacher, all of Dorchester, and Mrs. Mary Ludwig of Stetsonville.
