GREENWOOD -- Anthony John Mayer, 65, of Thorp, formerly of Greenwood, died Thursday, March 2, 2006, at Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2006, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fairview, rural Fairchild. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Cuddie Funeral Home in Greenwood and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. A rosary service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

He was born July 10, 1940, in Black River Falls to Tony and Georgia (Gilles) Mayer. He lived and worked on the family farm until 1988, when he moved to Greenwood to work for Adult Development Service at the Clark County Health Center in Owen, Wis. He later worked at Adult Development Service in Greenwood, Wisconsin. In August 2003, he moved to the Robert and Mary Ann Lewandowski farm in the town of Reseburg, where he resided until his death.

He is survived by his sisters, Louise Genteman, Marshfield, Dorothy (Bernard) Laufenberg, Alma Center, Marie (Bernard) Kaiser, Loyal, and Lorraine (Jeff) Rayhorn, Long Prairie, Minn.; a brother, Norman (Donna) Mayer, Bangor; and nieces and nephews.
