Birkett, Catherine (21 Dec. 1890 - 5 Nov. 1944)

Mrs. Wilmer Birkett suffered a stroke Sunday evening from which she did not come out of, and died, that night at 9:30 P.M. at her home one and one-fourth mile west of Colby, Wis. Funeral services will be held at the Lulloff Funeral Home on Friday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock, Rev. M. B. Ferguson officiating, and internment will be made in the Riverside cemetery, one and one-half mile west of Withee, Wis.

The deceased was born at Mineral Point, Wis., December 21, 1890, and was married to Wilmer Birkett at Dodgeville, Wis., on Dec. 29, 1914. In 1915, they went to Cob, Wis., where they engaged in farming until 1919 when they moved to Thorp where they farmed until 1941 when they moved onto a farm four miles east of Abbotsford, Wis. In the spring of 1942, they moved onto their present farm in the town of Colby, Wis.

Surviving are her husband, five children, Mrs. Wilma Knappon of Madison; Willis in the army, Blanche Birkett in Washington, D.C., and Wayne and Donald, at home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George A. Haas of Mineral Point; one brother and three sisters, Fred J. Haas of Mineral Point, Mrs. A. D. Williams of Madison, Mrs. Esther Godfrey of Mineral Point and Miss Rebecca Haas of Mineral Point. Also three grand children. One child preceded her mother in death in 1938.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wilmer Birkett, whose death was reported last week, were held Friday at the Lulloff Funeral Home, Rev. M. B. Ferguson officiating, and internment was made in the Riverside cemetery one and one-half miles west of Withee, Wis. Pall bearers were Pierce Owens, Orville Radley, Herman Lurass, Charles Flick, Karl Laube and Ernest Schulz. Hymns during the service were sung by Miss Joan Marsh and Miss Betty Jean Bender, accompanied by Miss Margaret Rucks.

B. Williams and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Williams of Madison, Mrs. Jerome Donahue of Bellville, Will Haas and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Haas, Mr. and Mrs. Clarke Haas, Mr. and Mrs. Pierce Owens, Mrs. Louise Owens and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Lurass of Withee; Mr. and Mrs. Orville Radley of Greenwood, Lyle Haas of Owen, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Shepherd of Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Telford of Thorp and Mrs. L. Thorson of Withee, Wis.
