Hasseldick, Frieda (Apr. 1890 - 6 Feb. 1893)

Star and News: - Medford:

A little child of a homesteader named Hasseldick, living in the town of Deer Creek, was so seriously burned during the temporary absence of both parents from the house, that it died four hours later.

The child was two years and ten months old, and last Monday morning it was left alone in the house while the mother was milking the cow, the father being also at work away from the house. On the mother’s return she found her little one on the floor, the entire surface of its body badly burned, with the exception of its feet, which were protected by shoes. Every thing that could be thought of to alleviate the terrible suffering of the little one was done, but the fire had done its work too well, and death soon came. The parents have the earnest sympathy of all citizens to their sorrow.

*** Note: The child’s first name is from an index of Wisconsin Deaths from 1820 - 1907.
