Klumb, Dorothy (Marriage - 27 Apr. 1946)

Miss Dorothy Klumb, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Klumb of Marquette, Mich., became the bride of Virgil Van Dreel of Colby, Route 1, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Van Dreel, in a wedding ceremony read in St. Mary’s rectory at Colby on April 27th, at 1:00 P.M., Rev. N. B. Beschta officiating.

For her wedding the bride wore a white gown styled with a taffeta bodice and full double-net skirt which extended into a chapel train. Net appliqué trimmed the neckline and the peplum and her veil of illusion was caught to a wreath of orange blossoms. Her pearls were a gift from the groom. She carried a shower bouquet of roses, snapdragons and sweet peas.

Her sister, Harriet, in a blue nylon and marquisette frock, and wearing a wreath of blue flowers in her hair, was maid of honor. Miss Luimilla Van Dreel, the groom’s sister, in pink rayon taffeta, made with a ballerina net skirt, and a floral headdress, served as bridesmaid. Both carried carnations, iris and jonquils and wore pearl necklaces.

Floyd Van Dreel of Colby, a brother of the groom, and Leo Leffel, the bride’s cousin, attended the groom.

Following a wedding ceremony a reception was held at the home of the groom’s parents. A large wedding cake centered the tables and flowers and lighted tapers added a festive note. That evening a dance was held at the Trianon Ballroom with Jack Kohlbeck and his orchestra providing the music.

When they return from a wedding trip to northern Michigan the couple will reside at the Van Dreel home on route 1 near Colby, where Mr. Van Dreel is engaged in farming.
