Langfeldt, Jennie A. (30 June 1908 - 22 Dec. 2007)

Jennie A. Langfeldt

Jennie A. Langfeldt, 99, of Greenwood, Wisconsin, died Dec. 22, 2007, at her home.

Jennie was born June 30, 1908, in Waukegan, Ill., to Gregor and Flemenia (Zankon) Celesnik. In 1912, her family settled on a farm near Willard. She attended the Willard State Graded School in Willard. After graduation, she spent the winter months in Highland Park, Deerfield and Lake Forest doing domestic work.

On Sept. 18, 1928, she married Louie Suda in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenwood, Wisconsin. They farmed northeast of Greenwood in partnership with his brother Vandy and Mary Suda for three years.

Jennie and Mary were sisters. On Feb. 3, 1931, as a partnership, they bought and operated the Wildwood Cheese Factory & Store. They operated it as one family until 1944, when they dissolved the partnership. Then Louie and Jennie bought the Longwood Store from Emory Erickson, which they operated for some time.

The couple divorced and Jennie moved to Racine. In 1952, she married Edwin Langfeldt. After retirement, they moved to Neillsville. Edwin died in 1996, and Jennie moved to Greenwood and later to the Angelus Retirement Center in Neillsville. As her health failed, she lived with and under the loving care of Ron and Tammi Jenkins in Withee.

Jennie is survived by her children, Frances Gosse of Thorp, Jane (Art) Petersen of Withee, Lucille (Cal) Stokes of Deer Lodge, Mont., and William (Marilyn) Suda of Hamilton, Mont.; stepchildren, Vivian (Ted) Briski of Greenwood, Guy (Mary) Langfeldt of Marshfield, Rosalee (Milt) Hall of Racine, Trudy (Howard) Reber of Wisconsin Rapids, June Pollard of Hobbs, N.M.; sisters-in-law, Janice Vollrath of Marshfield, Albena Celesnik of Eau Claire and Dene Langfeldt of Spokane, Wash.; several grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Cremation Society of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, is serving the family.
