Arnold Brecklein left Wednesday for Stevens Point to visit with relatives and friends a few days.

Mr. and Mrs. P. Kinzel, and son Glen, of North Dakota, are visiting at the home of Barney Burns.

Messrs Springer and Armbrust the Athens butchers, were visitors and business callers here over Sunday.

Albert Te*smer returned to camp at Westboro Monday morning after spending Sunday with folks here.

V. L. Troxel, who conducted the Star Restaurant here for several months, was in town Wednesday and Thursday to pack and ship his furniture to Alma Center where he is now located.

A birthday surprise stag party was tendered Theodore Watermolen at his home Saturday evening. "500" was played until about midnight after which a very appetizing lunch was served the guests. A more than enjoyable time was voted by all.

Dr. and Mrs. E. Ward, who left several weeks ago for Eagle River, returned Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Ward were both taken sick while there with the grippe and were unable to return sooner. The doctor informs us that he is now located in his new office in the Sprague building and is better equipped than ever to take care of his patients.

*** [Note: Beginning of item was cut off and not available at the time of transcription.] …of Chas. Nagel befell with an accident that may cost him the loss of the sight of his right eye. The little fellow was driving the cows into the barn and in striking one of them the long lash of the whip he was using partly wound around the cows legs, the end of it coming up and taking him in the eye.

He was taken to the hospital at Stevens Point, Mrs. Nagel accompanied him, where all was done to save his sight. From latest reports he is getting along nicely but it is still an uncertainty as to whether he will regain his sight or not.
