Schlimm, John (9 Apr. 1882 - 2 May 1946)

John Schlimm died of a heart ailment at his home in Colby last Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, following a month’s illness at the age of 64 years. Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic church Monday morning at 9:30 o’clock, Rev. N. B. Beschta reading the Requiem High Mass. Internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were C. J. Kraus, Matt Orth, Nick Gierl, Ed Becker, Nick Baer and Peter Apfelbeck. The flowers were in charge of Marjorie and Dorothy Young, JoAnne Gierl and Gloria Olson.

Mr. Schlimm was born on April 9, 1882, in Black Creek, and, when a small child, moved with his parents to the village of Mackville, near Appleton. In 1901, the family moved to Athens. He was married to Anna Gregorius on June 27, 1905, in Mackville and came to the city of Colby in 1914.

Mr. Schlimm was well and favorably known in the Colby community and was engaged in the carpenter business. He served as trustee of St. Mary’s Catholic church for 12 years and was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Holy Name Society. He was a good Christian, honest and friendly in all his dealings and well-liked by all who knew him.

Surviving are his widow; one sister, Mrs. George Schrier of Wausau; and two half-brothers, Michael Peter of Athens and Joseph Peter of Wood.
