Wachsmuth, Herman (17 Feb 1856 - 22 Jan 1926*)

OLD RESIDENT PASSES AWAY

Herman Wachsmuth, an aged resident, residing at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wm. Jakel, two miles and a half Northeast of Curtiss, Wisconsin, died Saturday afternoon, at about two o’clock, after an illness of five days, the result of a fall down a basement stairway. He was injured about the chest and body, causing his untimely death. Mr. Waschmuth was born in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, February 17, 1856 and was nearing his 70th birthday at the time of his death. He married Ida Schauneman, who preceded him in death seven years ago. Mr. Wachsmuth had retired from active farm work. He was one of the early pioneers in this section, coming here when the country was new, and located an a farm near Curtiss, and since that time has had numerous farms, and was prominent in the development of this section. He leaves to mourn, seven sons, Emil and Edward of this city, Hugo of Manitowoc, Albert of Texas, Charlie, Alfred and Leo and two daughters, Mrs. Wm. Jakel and Mrs. Simon Erle of Lake Geneva. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday from the Lutheran Church at Curtiss, Rev. Goetsch officiating and burial tool place in the Green Grove Cemetery.

Mr. H. (Herman) Walsmith’s (Wachsmidt/Wachsmuth) baby boy died Friday evening and it was taken to the Green Grove cemetery Sunday afternoon.  We all sympathize with them over the death of their son.  ***(Note: Mrs. Herman Wachsmuth was the former Ida Schauneman.  Greenwood Gleaner, 7 Mar 1902.
