Wiersig, Evelyn (14 August 1912 - 28 May 1948)

Mrs. Herbert Wiersig died at the age of 36 years at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital Friday after a long illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Zion Lutheran church in Colby, Wis., Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating, and burial was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Harold Reinhardt and Art Wiersig, Elmer Wellman, Walter Runzheimer and Leslie Johnson. Flowers were in charge of Olga, Hilda, Ruth, Janice and Carrol Wiersig, Sharon Runzheimer, Marilyn Fitzel, Bonnie Johnson, Arlyle Sachse, Mrs. Ervin Weller.

Mrs. Wiersig, nee Evelyn Schmutzler, was born on August 14, 1912, at Beaver Dam, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Schmutzler. At the age of seven years, she came to Colby with her parents. On June 22, 1932, she married William Schmelzer who died in March, 1937. On March 25, 1940, she married Herbert Wiersig.

Surviving are her husband, her parents who now reside in Marshfield, a sister, Mrs. Armand (June) Behrens of Marshfield and a brother, Woodrow of Colby, Wisconsin.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Mrs. Chas. Goodwin, Mrs. Kenneth Fisher, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Schmutzler, Mrs. Alfred Schmutlzer, Frank Schmutzler, Mrs. Laura Schmutzler, Ed Schmutzler, Mr. and Mrs. Dell Wegener, all of Beaver Dam, and Raymond Schmutzler of Jackson, Calif.
