Fitzel, Benedict (21 Mar. 1918 - 10 Oct. 1948)

Benedict Fitzel of the town of Frankfort died Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock at the Wisconsin General Hospital at Madison following an operation for a brain tumor. He was taken to the hospital last week Thursday.

The body was taken to the Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby where it had been lying in state until Wednesday afternoon when funeral services were held at the Emmanuel Lutheran church in the town of March Rapids and intenment was made in the parish cemetery. Pall bearers were Byron Olson, Herman Feldbregge, Ben Reil, Theo. Dirks, Albert Syring, and Martin Syring. Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Byron Olson, Mrs. Lawrence Olson, Mrs. Norbert Ven Rooy, Mrs. Herman Feldbregge, Mrs. Ben Reil, Mrs. Theo. Dirks and Mrs. Albert Syring.

Mr. Fitzel was born on March 21, 1918, in the town of Spencer, thus reaching the age ot 30 years. He was married to Miss Dorothy Olson in Colby Sept. 27, 1939.

Surviving are his wife and two daughters - Dianne, age 7, and Mary Jane, age 2. Also his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. Wucherpfennig of Colby, a brother, Adam, of the town of Frankfort, and two sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Mary) Schmidt of Marshfield and Mrs. Ralph (Rose) Andrew of the town of Colby, Wisconsin.

The deceased was of a very industrious disposition and was well and favorably known in this community. His many friends were sorry to hear of his untimely death and will miss him.
