Sonheim, John Sr. (25 JAN 1873 - 9 MAY 1948)

Neillsville, Clark Co., Wis. - Funeral services for John Sonheim Sr., 75, Town of Levis (Clark Co.), who died at 8 o’clock Sunday morning at his farm home will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Georgas Funeral Home and at 2 o’clock at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Interment will be made in the Neillsville City Cemetery, the Rev. William Lauterbach officiating. The body will lie in state at the Georgas Funeral Home.

Mr. Sonheim was born Jan. 25, 1873, in Austria, where he received his education. At the age of 20 he came to the United States, settling in Chicago, where he married the former Elizabeth Hollinger on Jan. 29, 1899. In 1903 they came to Clark County, purchasing the home farm and clearing the land. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife, four sons, John at home; Frank, Wis. Rapids; Henry, Bogota, N.J., and Daniel, Santa Monica, Calif.; and three daughters, Mrs. Jean (Catherine) Bishop, Skokie, Ill.; Mrs. B. (Carline) Bochac, Merrillan; and Mrs. Fredrick (Evelyn) Ludwick, Puyallup, Wash. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and a half-brother, Henry, living in Austria. One son, Phillip, was killed in an automobile accident in 1943.
