Ramker, Merlin V. (29 FEB 1916 - 27 SEP 1996)

Colby, Wis. - Merlin V. Ramker, 80, of 107 E. Linden St., Abbotsford, died Sept. 27, 1996, at Continental Manor Nursing Home in Abbotsford, Wis.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby, Wis. The Rev. John Malik will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in the town of Colby in Clark County. Randy Ramker, Darrell and Darren Voss, Bart Schreiber, Keith Grieser and Gerald Glenzer will serve as casket bearers.

Visitation will be at 4 p.m. today at Community Funeral Home in Colby and one hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home. A vigil service will be held at 8:30 this evening at the funeral home.

He was born Feb. 29, 1916, in Greene, Iowa, to John and Edith (Adams) Ramker. He was educated in Greene.

On April 18, 1942, he married Milda Syring at St. Mary’s Parsonage in Colby, Wis. They farmed in the town of Hull from 1942 to 1968. After retiring from farming, he worked as a farm foreman for H.C. Christensen Corp. until 1985. Before his marriage, he worked at various CCC Camps.

He is survived by his wife, Milda of Abbotsford; one son, Merlin (Nancy) Ramker Jr. of Stratford; four daughters, Arla Mae (Eddie) Voss of Colby, Karen (Gary) Grieser of Spencer, Marlene (Galen) Schreiber of of Athens and Barbara Ramker of Abbotsford; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; on brother, Max (Bonnie) Ramker of Abbotsford; and three sisters, Maxine Ramker of Shawano, Bernice Koerner of Oshkosh and Betty (Floyd) Petersen of Chili.

He was predeceased by his parents; his twin brother, Melvin Ramker, and a brother, Virgil Ramker; a sister, Velma VanderBloomer; and two grandchildren, Kevin Grieser and Derrick Schreiber.

Relieved of his suffering, Merlin Ramker will be greatly missed by his family and his friends.
