Water System Saves Lindsey Murphy Home

Puts out Fire Over Furnace Sunday Evening - Other News of Levis Town

Gladys Beeckler - Phone Y3221

West Levis - A farm water system, consisting of an electric pump and pressure tank, saved the Lindsey Murphy home Sunday evening. The fire broke out in the basement in the evening, when Mr. Murphy was at home along. He telephoned central, who sent out calls for help. The neighbors came speedily, and the flames were presently under control. There was a horse, with water from the pressure system.

The fire presumably caught from the furnace, burning above it. Joists were burned and must be replaced. There was considerable damage from smoke and water. The damage will amount to several hundred dollars, covered by insurance.

We are sorry to hear of the death of William Richmond, one of the oldest settlers in South Levis community.

Mrs. Floyd Hagie called on Mrs. Louie Lautenbach Thursday afternoon.
