Novak, Helen T. (December 14, 1918 - June 29, 1991)

Mrs. Helen T. Novak, 72 a Marshfield resident, died at 12:55 p.m. Saturday, (June 29, 1991) at Marshfield Living Center where she had been a resident since May 16, 1990.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic church with the Rev. Charles P. Schumacher officiating. Music will be provided by Mrs. Helen Brinkmann, organist, and the Men’s Trio. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Grandsons and relatives will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be at Rembs/Kundinger Chapel at 4 p.m. Tuesday and again Wednesday until service time. A Sacred Heart Parish Council of Catholic women rosary service will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday followed by a parish prayer service at 7:30, both at the funeral chapel.

She was born December 14, 1918, in Avoca, Pa., to the late John and Kathryn (Shemanski) Szypula. She attended schools in Avoca. As a young woman, she moved to Chicago and was employed there.

She was married to Chester J. Novak October 28, 1939, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in Chicago. He died February 6, 1987.

She and her husband resided in Chicago until 1947. They then moved to the Hatfield (Bruce Mound, Merrillan) area in Clark County where they farmed. They moved to Marshfield in 1952, and he was employed by Weyerhaeuser Co. until retirement. She and her husband continued to reside on S. Cedar Avenue until his death. She then resided with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin (Joyce C) Klawitter in Nekoosa and Oxford.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Parish Council of Catholic Women.

Survivors, besides her daughter, Joyce, include two sons, Wayne of Stratford and Dale of Marshfield; one brother, John Sipola of Chicago; four half sisters, Mrs. William (Josephine) Szydlowski, Mrs. Stella Szydlowski and Mrs. Eugene (Marie) Kuleta, all of Chicago, and Mrs. Steve (Jean) Bazon of St. Joseph, Mich.; four half brothers, Casmier, Joseph, Frank and Wally Wilczynski, all of Chicago; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

She was also predeceased by one infant sister and one half-brother, Stanley.
