Kenneth F. Bonney Jr.

WISCONSIN RAPIDS -- Kenneth F. Bonney Jr., 69, of 520 Birch St., Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First English Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. The Revs. Kenneth Hanson and Stephen Dietzler will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Ken was born Dec. 21, 1938, in Prairie du Chien to Kenneth Sr. and Glady (Loomis) Bonney. He married Audrey Ladd on April 16, 1966, in Neillsville.

He graduated from Dodgeville High School in Dodgeville and then received a business administration degree from Mid-State Technical College in Wisconsin Rapids.

Ken worked several types of jobs during his lifetime. He was especially proud of his National Meat Cutters License and used that license working for the Red Owl Store in Neillsville for several years. Working in retail with the public was Ken's favorite type of work. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, he operated The Hobby Shop in the Rapids Mall, selling sports cards, supplies and other sports memorabilia.

He loved sports of all kinds, especially the Green Bay Packers, the Brewers and auto racing, but he enjoyed wrestling more than anything else. In his later years, Ken returned to coin collecting, and this became his biggest pastime.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey; one daughter, Darlene (William Sr.) Dhein of Wisconsin Rapids; one son, Kevin (Roberta Roseno) of Wisconsin Rapids; three granddaughters, Ashlea Dhein, Kourtney Bonney and Dakota Bonney; two grandsons, William Dhein Jr. and Kordell Bonney; one brother, the Rev. Richard (Jean) Bonney of Mauston; his mother- and father-in-law, Robert and Ilean Ladd of Neillsville; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Bonney of Stevens Point, and Lynda (Ladd) Hilliard of Neillsville; one brother-in-law, Dale (Janice) Ladd of Neillsville; many nieces; nephews; friends and neighbors; and his cat, Buddy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Gerald Bonney; and his grandson, Brandon Bonney.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at First English Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids.

A memorial is being established by Ken's family. Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home, Wisconsin Rapids, is assisting the family.

***Note: Mr. Bonney was married in Neillsville, Wis.
