Calbaum, Shirley Ann (Marriage - 27 Dec. 1952)

Shirley Ann Calbaum of Wausau, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Calbaum, and Victor R. Krueger, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Krueger of Spencer, were united in marriage Saturday at 7:00 P.M. in the Methodist church in Colby, Wis., Rev. Harvey Schall performing the double-ring ceremony.

Presented in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a brocaded satin dress featuring a Queen Anne collar, long tapering sleeves, a row of self-covered buttons that closed the front of the bodice, and a full skirt that extended into a long train. Her finger-tip veil of net illusion cascaded from her headdress and she carried a colonial bouquet of yellow roses and gladioli. The bride made her gown herself.

Attending the bride were her sister, Avis Hainzlsperger of Colby, as maid of honor, and Ethel Psenicka of Wausau, as bridesmaid. Both were gowned in frocks of taffeta with lace-trimmed net yokes, puffed sleeves and full hooped skirts, in peacock and rose, respectively. Each carried an arrangement of white and yellow gladioli.

Stanley Krueger of Spencer, a brother of the groom, was best man, and another brother, Earl Krueger of Spencer, was groomsman. Eldon Calbaum of Colby, a brother of the bride, and Fredric Bruesewitz of Colby, cousin of the groom, ushered.

Sharon Kropelin of Milwaukee, a niece of the bride, in a gold taffeta formal with a hooped skirt, served as flower girl. She carried a colonial bouquet of assorted flowers. Vernon Calbaum of Colby, a nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.

The mothers of the couple were present at the wedding in black crepe dresses. Each had a corsage of pink and white carnations.

A reception, with 65 persons in attendance, was held after the ceremony in the church basement.

The bride, a graduate of the Colby High School, is employed as bookkeeper at the Singer Sewing Machine Co. at Wausau, and the groom, who completed the Spencer High School, is stationed with the U.S. Air Force at Keelser Field, Biloxi, Miss.

The bride, after a wedding trip in Northern Wisconsin, will remain in Wausau and will join him later.

Guests at the wedding were from Spencer, Marshfield, Abbotsford, Owen, Withee, Wausau, Stratford, Dorchester, Milwaukee, Edgar, Athens, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Rockford, Ill.
