Stammer, Rheta Marie (Marriage - 10 Jan. 1953)

Rheta Marie Stammer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Stammer, and Carl Laurence Priem, son of Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Priem, exchanged marriage vows Saturday, January 10, at 2:30 P.M. in Zion Lutheran church, Rev. O. Hoffmann reading the marriage ceremony. The couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Odum. Miss Grace Schulz, accompanied by Betty Kowalk, sang "God Gave Me You" and "The Lord’s Prayer." Mrs. Elmer Meissner was the organist. The church was decorated with palms, candelabra, a white floral bouquet and a white aisle runner.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was attired in a white satin gown featuring a mandarin collar, long pointed sleeves, a fitted bodice emphasized with lace and seed pearls and a row of covered buttons down the front and back. A panel of lace over satin formed the front of the gathered skirt which extended into a chapel-length trim. Her lace-edged finger-tip veil of imported silk illusion was attached to a tiara of lace and seed pearls. Her bouquet consisted of red and white roses mixed with white mums and tied with white streamers. She carried a French wedding handkerchief given to her by the groom.

Mrs. Odum wore an orchid dress featuring a bodice of lace over taffeta with a mandarin collar and covered buttons down the front and a skirt of net over taffeta. Her bouquet consisted of a crescent of yellow roses, baby mums and ivy.

Dinner for the immediate family was served at the home of the bride’s parents which was decorated with white and orchid streamers centered with two white bells.

The young couple left on a trip through the southwest. The groom is employed by North American Van Lines, Inc.
