Jewett, June Marie (Marriage - 15 Aug. 1953)

Miss June Marie Jewett, daughter of Mrs. Otto Braun of Colby, Wis., and Clyde Jewett of Julesburg, Colo., and Allan I. Niemi of Withee, were united in marriage in a double ring ceremony Saturday, Aug. 15, at the First Evangelical and Reformed church in Colby, Wis., Rev. V. O. Grosshuesch reading the marriage ceremony. Miss Annabelle Klaar sang "Always" and "The Lord’s Prayer." The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Harold.

Mrs. William Serdar of Waukegan, Ill., was matron of honor and Miss Janet Olson of Chippewa Falls served as bridesmaid. The groom was attended by his brother, Edwin Niemi, of Elgin, Ill., as best man and William Serdar of Waukegan, Ill. Emil Unitedt of Colby and Leonard Buchanan of Withee ushered.

The bride was attired in a waltz length gown of tulle over satin, rose point lace ending in scroll effect on skirt, long pointed sleeves, imported illusion net fingertip veil, lace trim from a shell hat trimmed with seed pearls. Her bouquet consisted of a white orchid, red roses, stephanotis and rosebuds and satin streamers. The matron of honor wore a ballerina length gown of nylon net over taffeta, cap sleeves, and a net jacket. Her bouquet consisted of yellow roses, white mums and stephanotis. The bridesmaid wore an orchid dress, styled similar to that of the matron of honor’s and her bouquet was like that of the matron of honor’s. The bride’s mother wore a tan dress with black accessories with a corsage of white gladioli and yellow carnations. The groom’s mother wore a navy blue dress with black accessories with a corsage of white gladioli and yellow carnations.

A wedding reception was held at the home of the bride. Guests were from Withee, Owen, Abbotsford, Dorchester, Unity, Marshfield, Ladysmith, Milwaukee, Chicago, Ill., Calumet, Mich., Wakefield, Mich., and Colby, Wis.

The couple will make their home on a farm at Withee, route 2, where the groom is engaged in farming.
