Eggebrecht, Harry (1 Sept. 1862 - 15 Feb. 1953)

Harry Eggebrecht of the town of Hull, Wisconsin died Sunday, Feb. 15, at a Wausau hospital after six months’ treatment, old age complications being the cause of his death. He had been ill several years. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the First Evangelical and Reformed church in Colby, Wis., Rev. Grether of Neillsville officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Harold Miller, Harold Wiersig, Norman Wiersig, Art Schmidt, Alfred Rein and Richard Behrens.

The deceased was born in Wyandotte, Mich., on September 1st, 1862, thus reaching the age of 90 years, five months and 15 days. He came to this community when 21 years of age and engaged in farming in the town of Hull until he retired. His marriage to Bertha Heintz took place in Colby, Wisconsin on November 2, 1890. She died on December 9, 1941.

Surviving are two sons, Carl Eggebrecht of Marshfield and Irvin Eggebrecht of Colby; six grand children; 18 great grand children; one sister, Mrs. Louise McHugh, of Oshkosh.

The deceased, like all of the early settlers of this community, was a man of generous impulses, honest in all his dealings, who never forgot the hospitable ways of his ancestors. He was highly respected by his neighbors and friends and was treasurer of the town of Hull for several years.
