Schmitt, Louise (24 Mar. 1876 - 26 Nov. 1953)

Mrs. Louise Schmitt died early last Thursday morning at the Marathon county hospital where she had been confined the past three years, at the age of 77 years, a lingering illness being the cause of her death. Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s church Saturday morning, Rev. Frank Brickl officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Walter Gasch, Cletus Schraufnagel, Ben Apfelbeck, Joe Kunzem John Hofman and Ed Hofman.

Mrs. Schmitt, nee Bertha Teuber, was born in Oppersdorf, Germany, on March 24, 1876, and came to the United States on August 3, 1923, and settled in the town of Hull. She married Robert Schmitt on November 3, 1925, in Athens. He preceded her in death in 1940.

Mrs. Schmitt was a faithful member of St. Mary’s congregation and of the Christian Mothers organization of that parish. She will be remembered by her many friends as being of a kindly disposition who always endeavored to perform her duties faithfully and well.

Surviving step children are Raymond Schmitt of Colby, Larry Schmitt of Ironwood, Mich., Isadore Schmitt of Medford, Miss Agnes Schmitt of Colby, Miss Genevieve Schmitt of Winnebago and Mrs. Henrietta Jungwirth of Oshkosh. Ten grand children also survive.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Larry Schmitt and daughter of Ironwood, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Isadore Schmitt and family of Medford, Genevieve Schmitt of Winnebago, Mrs. Leonard (Henrietta) Jungwirth of Oshkosh, Miss Ida Hohusil and Miss Ida Heinicke of Menasha, Mrs. Anna Schmitt and sons, Bernard and Floyd of Athens, Peter Kaiser, Mrs. Ed Haebig and Bernard Haebig of Marshfield, Bob Haebig and son and daughter of Wausau and Mrs. Lawrence Peterson and Ray Knight of Abbotsford, Wis.
